About

What this is, and how it is written

A civic-education project about how Pakistan's institutions actually work — built on the belief that a country is not rescued by a leader, it is built by citizens who understand the machinery well enough to hold it to account.

The question underneath

Why do some nations become prosperous, secure and just while others remain poor, unstable and divided? Not as a rhetorical question — as a researchable one, with comparable countries, documented reforms, and results you can check.

How articles are written

What the labels in the library mean

Every article in the library carries a small label saying what it rests on. The label describes the text, not its quality. It was derived by reading each article and asking one question: can the claims in it be followed back to something you could check yourself?

No article has had independent or expert review. These labels were written in-house, from the text of the articles themselves. They are not verification by anyone outside this project, they are not peer review, and they are not a rating. The review status of every article on this site is the same: unreviewed.

What this is not

Why it is published as Sawal

Articles carry one name — Sawal — rather than an individual byline. The subject matter is sensitive enough in places that a single named author becomes the story instead of the argument. The work should be judged on its sources, which are published with it, rather than on who wrote it.

What is finished and what is not

This platform is being built in the open, so the gaps are listed rather than hidden.

Corrections

Errors are corrected at the original address, with a dated note saying what changed. Nothing is quietly edited. If you find a mistake — particularly a number, a legal citation, or a claim about a named person — report it and it will be checked.

Independence

The project takes no funding from political parties, candidates, government bodies or their affiliates. If that ever changes, it will be stated on this page before it takes effect.
